It was set up in 2011 pioneering the independent fund model in Germany. German Media Pool initially combined the advertising inventory of three different German media groups. Since then, the number of media partners has risen to more than 30. German Media Pool has set up media deals with partners in Belgium, the Netherlands and the Czech Republic as well. The fund offers all above-the-line media types, television, radio, print and out-of-home, many of them via several different partners.
German Media Pool has invested its media in 40+ startups, including category leaders such as ABOUT YOU, Momox, Grover, Sanity Group and CLARK. The fund employs its own media planning manager, who works closely with the companies to define media strategies and plans across the different media types.
The majority of their investments used more than one media type. Three startups used all four types of media, and two further ones combined three types. The most popular combinations of two media types were television with radio and television with out-of-home.
